Tried keeps what it needs to run testing between makers and testers, shows you exactly who sees what, and never sells your data. Questions: [email protected].
What we collect
- From Google or GitHub, when you sign in: your name, email address, profile picture and, for GitHub, your username.
- What you add: your apps and requests, feedback, ratings and testimonials, messages with makers or testers, screenshots and videos you attach, reports you send, and your profile (bio, website, X handle, interests).
- New-test emails without an account: the email address and platforms you give us. Every email has a link to unsubscribe, which deletes the address.
- Security: where you're signed in (IP address and browser), passkeys (only the public key; the private key never leaves your device), and two-factor settings.
- Activity logs: actions on your account (signing in, adding an app, sending feedback, admin actions) with the IP address and browser they came from, to keep the site safe and fair.
- Analytics: page views and a few events (such as "app added"), counted without cookies and without building a profile of you.
Who sees what
- Everyone: your public profile (if you keep it public), the apps you make, the apps you've tested, your rating, and the testimonials you chose to share.
- Only the maker of an app you test: your feedback, attachments and messages.
- Only the tester: license codes a maker hands out, and the maker's messages to them.
- Admins: what's needed to handle reports and keep the site working, including activity logs.
- Never shown: your sign-in email, IP addresses and security settings.
You can make your profile private, or hide what you've tested or what you make, in Settings.
Cookies
One cookie keeps you signed in, and a short-lived one helps with two-factor checks. Nothing for advertising or tracking.
Services we use
- Hosting: runs the site and the database.
- File storage: screenshots and videos attached to tests.
- Email delivery: sending notification emails.
- Google and GitHub: signing in.
- An AI provider: when you ask us to fill in an app's details, the text of that public page is sent to write suggestions. Nothing about you is sent.
- Analytics: cookie-free page counts.
The free site tools fetch the page you enter to check it; we don't keep the page's content.
How long we keep it
Your account and everything in it stays until you delete it. Activity and security logs are kept for 12 months. Deleting your account removes your profile, apps, tests, testimonials, messages and attachments; logs that mention your account are kept only as long as above.
Your rights
You can see and change most of your data in Settings, and delete your account in Settings → Security. For a copy of your data, or anything else (access, correction, objection), email [email protected]. If you're in the EU or UK, you can also complain to your data protection authority.
Children
Tried is for people 16 and over.
Changes
If we change how we use your data, we'll update this page and tell you by email before it applies.
